A Guide to the Boxall Profile® Online Training Toolkit for Multi-Academy Trust's (MATs) and MAT Leaders
A Guide to the Boxall Profile® Online Training Toolkit
We know that at the heart of your Trust is a promise to every child: that they will be seen, heard, and supported.
But we also know the challenge. How do you ensure that a child in one school feels just as understood as a child in another? How do you support your staff to look beyond behaviour when they are under so much pressure?
Our Boxall Profile® Training Toolkit is designed to bring your community together. It offers a supportive pathway for every member of your team – from the leaders shaping the culture to the staff building relationships in the classroom – ensuring that nurture and the Boxall Profile® is the golden thread that runs through your Trust.
For Trust Leaders & Headteachers
Creating a nurturing Trust requires a clear vision. It is about moving from “managing behaviour” to “understanding needs.”
- The Support: Developing a Whole-School Approach (On-Demand Webinar)
- The Impact: This session invites your leadership team to reflect on the bigger picture. It provides a framework to turn the insights from the Boxall Profile® into a culture of belonging, ensuring that your commitment to pupil wellbeing is backed by meaningful, measurable action.
For inclusion leads & SENCOs
Your SENCOs and Inclusion Leads are the heartbeat of this work. They are the ones supporting colleagues through difficult days and advocating for the most vulnerable children. They need to feel confident and empowered.
- The Support: The Boxall Profile® Educator’s Guide (Accredited)
- The Impact: This is our “Gold Standard” training. It gives your key experts the deep knowledge they need to interpret what a child is communicating through their behaviour. It empowers them to guide other staff, ensuring that interventions are not just “done to” the child, but are responsive, loving, and effective.
For the wider school family
Every interaction a child has in school matters, from the morning greeting at the gate to the support in the classroom. Staff want to help, but often they feel unsure of how.
- The Support: Essential Foundations E-Learning
- The Impact: This flexible learning gives every teacher and TA the confidence to “look beyond behaviour.” By offering this to all staff, you create a shared language of care across your Trust. It removes the guesswork, ensuring that every adult understands the developmental needs of the children in their care, without the stress of needing to take days away from the classroom.
“Working with nurtureuk these past few months, we have seen the impact of the programme in developing strong connections, ensuring our pupils feel not just safe, but genuinely heard. Developing an inclusive and nurturing culture is essential for the progress and future opportunities of our pupils.”
Marino Charalambous, Chief Executive Officer, North Star Community Trust

Why this supports your Trust’s journey:
- A shared language: When everyone, from the TA to the CEO, understands the principles of nurture, the whole community feels safer. Staff feel more supported, and children feel more understood.
- Consistency of care: It ensures that no matter which of your schools a child attends, their emotional needs are assessed with the same empathy and understanding.
- Supporting staff wellbeing: When staff understand why a child is struggling, they feel less overwhelmed and more capable. Flexible e-learning respects their time and reduces the pressure of cover, showing them that you value their development.
A thought for your leadership team: by weaving the Essential Foundations course into your induction for new staff, you are saying from day one: “In this Trust, we prioritise understanding the child.”
Case studies from the Inclusive Multi Academy Trust
Using the Boxall Profile® to improve attendance in a MAT
Child A is in Reception, an only child whose mother is in the UK on a work visa, with no recourse to public funds and a history of domestic abuse. Child A’s attendance was erratic, with many single days off. Analysis from the Boxall Profile® highlighted low scores in A-J.
Goal: Improve Child A’s attendance month on month during the 2023/24 academic year using a relational approach supported by the Boxall Profile®.
Impact: Attendance improved from 73% in October 2023 to 86% in March 2024. Child A is now in school more regularly, accessing appropriate interventions in class, and is making progress as demonstrated by the Boxall Profile®.
